Putt’s ‘n’ Pars, Girls Chatter & NRVGA reschedule from Grafton Golf Club

2026Club Championships

The final two rounds of the 72-hole Club and Grade Championships were completed last weekend in which there is a new Club Champion in the history making series, conducted by the Grafton District Golf Club. With scores of 70-66-72-78 (total 286) Jake Frame has taken out this years Club Championship from last years runner-up Matt McKee on 291 with rounds of 70-70-77-74 against his name. They were followed by Sebastian Cox on 299 total made up with scores of 78-73-73-76. The “A” Reserve Championship was won by Nate Tattis with scores of 74-84-74-84 over the four rounds with Randall Dow five shots in arrears on 321 total. Brett McConnell was a further ten shots from Randall with 331. John Frame led the “B” Grade Championships from start to finish with scores of 82-85-81-95 (total 343). It was a tough final round for John, however he had enough in reserve to hold off the runner-up Andrew J. Fletcher on 349. In third place was Andrew Sear with 352. There was no doubting the winner of the C’ Grade Championships with Justin Tattis dominating that grade with score of 81-87-88-94 (total 356), one shot in arrears was Tony Daly with 357. Tony Norton was next in line with 371.

For the first time in the history of the Grafton Golf Club Championship series two family, father and son, golfers won two championship titles. They are Jake Frame and John Frame who took out the Club and “B” Grade titles respectively and Justin and Nate Tattis who won “C” Grade and “A” Reserve titles. No doubt this history making result would have added to the celebrations that followed the formal presentations.

In conjunction with the actual Championships series, the various Grades also included nett trophies for those at the top of the leader board following the application of player handicaps. “A” Grade was won by Mathew McKee (Scratch)on 289, followed by Simon Loadsman (4) with 291 from Sebastian Cox (1) with 295. “A” Reserve was won by Nate Tattis (6) with 292 followed by Billy Darby (10) with 298 and Paul Grieve (9) also with 298. In “B” Grade it was Andrew J. Fletcher (15) topped the leader board with 289 from Terry Brooks (15) on 294 then John Frame (11) with 297. In “C” Grade it was Justin Tattis (27) on top with 286 from Zac Cotton (27) with 294 and Tony Norton (19) 297.

The 2026 Championship series was an extremely successful, with new winners and a element of history as a bonus. Our thanks to all the various sponsors which include co-sponsors Harvison Building & Design, Jacaranda City Coaches, Craig Woods Plumbing, McKimms Real Estate, and the Golf Club. Without those sponsors the series could not achieve its ultimate success.

Mid-week Competition

The Thursday competition was well supported in which Greg McCaughey (24) with an outstanding score of 45 points was the winner. In just his only second competition ever the runner-up was Brodie Matheson (36) with a score of 44. As a result of that score, Brodie will find his future competition games a little more difficult as his then handicap of 36 received a reduction 13 as a reward for his good golf. The 2nd runner-up went to Graham Plater (23) with 41. Pro balls went down to 35 on a countback. The nearest the pin awards went to Michael Harris (18) on the 1st, Joe Fahey (8) the 6th, Brad Mostyn (8) the 10th with Greg Harvison (2) picking up the 17th.

There were 89 starters in the Tuesday Veteran/Member competition in which Darren Hindom (22) was the undoubted star with a magnificent 47 points. He was followed by Peter Brennan (20) on 44, a good follow up effort to his previous Tuesday winning score of 40. The 2nd runner-up spot went to Graham Plater (25) with 43 on a countback from David Green (6). You had to play well to achieve a Pro ball, 37 on a countback in the members division and 36 also on a countback in the Veterans. The “all in” nearest the pins went to Richard Maguire (22) on the 6th and Peter Brennan the 10th.

Football Tipping Competition

All those who participated in the Footy Tipping competition are advised that your presentation day and bar-be-que is scheduled for Sunday 18th October commencing at 12pm. The R.S.V.P. sheet to record the names who will be attending is up on the notice board, which will assist in the catering requirements.

Hello everyone,

What another cracker of a weekend. I suppose tomorrow being the first day of Spring is reason enough to stop being so amazed at the warmth of the days. It certainly has been a particularly mild Winter. Enjoy the last Winter day's read of our news on the Grafton Golf Course.

Have been advised that the NRVGA masters has now been set for October 6th at Kyogle golf club

We will post the entry form when we receive it

To qualify you must have had played three NRVGA open days at away clubs
