Putt’s ‘n’ Pars from Grafton Golf Club

It has been awhile, but at last we were able to get a complete week of uninterrupted Mens Golf at the Grafton Golf Club, which was more than welcome, and hopefully will continue for some time .Last Saturday was a big day of golf, with not only the scheduled4BBB
competition, but organisers also included an individual stableford competition which was held in conjunction with the main event.
With a score of 47 pts, the combination of Gary Cook (23) and Danny Li (5) was successful in taking out the 4BBB component of the days competition recording 20 pts on the front 9, and backed that up with a remarkable 27 pts around the back 9. Their card reveals 9 x 3pt holes and threw in a couple of 4 pointers for good measure. A score of 45 pts was recorded by the Ken Radunz (15) + Peter Rouse (12) to claim the 1st runner up spot from Luke Worthing (16) and Daniel Usher (19) with 44 pts which was more than good enough to claim the 2nd r/up spot. The N.T.P. awards for the day went to Dwayne Doyle (9) on the 1st, Brendan Cleaver (5) on the 6th, Clint Corbett (10) on the 10th, with Kim Li (19) taking out the 17th. Pro Balls going down to pairings with 41 pts on a c/b.
In the individual competition held in conjunction, Damien Blair (10) topped the leader board with a score of 38 pts in division 1 with Dwayne Doyle (9) also with38 pts, Damien coming out on top with the assistance of the c/b process. Rowan Butcher (6) was successful in claiming the 2nd r/u spot with 37pts
Scores in division 2 were also congested at the top of the leader board, in which Steve Hoolahan (12) was on top, finishing with 37 pts, from two players Andrew Connor (16) and Paul Hewitt (14) both on 36 pts.
Gary Cook (23) dominated Division 3 with 40 pts, three pts clear of Runner up Terry Brooks (18) with 37 pts Bill Dudgeon (20) was awarded with 2nd r/up spot with 35 pts . The Saturday competition which was sponsored by the Ulmarra Hotel attracted a good field of just under 110 starters, which was one of strongest field for some time.
On Sunday, a Mixed 2 Person Ambrose was held which served as the qualifier for the NSW Keno Competition. The husband and wife combination of Elaine (16)and Gordon Shand (15) put together a gross score of 75 which resulted in a nett result of 67.25 to claim the win. They were followed by another husband and wife pairing of Karl (17) and Rhonda (34) Stud with a gross score of 82 for a nett result of 69.25. That score was good enough for Rhonda and Karl to qualify for the Keno final being hosted by Yamba Golf Club on the 28th September. Rhonda and Karl who are great supporters of Grafton Golf are looking forward to representing Grafton Golf Club at the Yamba finals.
There were just under 80 starters in Tuesday’s Members/Veterans Medley Competition, with the results identical in both divisions. Glenn Jackson (19) was the winner in the two divisions with a commendable 43 pts. Ray Loy (38) was next with 39pts, followed by Ray Smith (23)on 37 pts. In the Vets NTP competition, Deane Hayes (16) dominated by taking out both 17th and 14th holes. Bruce Baxter (21) claimed the 1st with Wayne Creighton (15) taking out the 4th. In the “all in” NTP competition, Craig Woods (9) continued his great good form by claiming the 6th with Dean Hayes (16) picking uo his 3rd NTP award on the day on the 10th.
Pro balls for the Vets went down to 31 on a c/b and 33 for the members.
The Thursday mens competition was also well supported with 63 starters taking advantage of the good golfing conditions. At the end of play Darrel Berry (28) found himself on top of the field with 40 pts. Terry Brooks (18) and Steve Hoolahan (12) with 38 pts was next in line with Terry awarded with 2nd runner up spot following the countback. Pro balls going down to 33 pts. NTP awards went to Steve Hoolahan (12) on the 1st, Scott Oliver (23) on the 6th, Brett McConnell on the 10th, and Anthony Donohue (20) on the 17th)
